Founded in September 1983, with more than 30 years of experience, Sotramon’s main objectives were to serve the sugar industry but it rapidly became a leader in engineering works in Mauritius and in the Indian Ocean region.
Sotramon Group offers a wide range of services and products in the fields of engineering – technical and commercial activities. It not only offers specific feasibility studies, it can also integrate in a worthwhile framework, thus providing a turnkey approach.
This service-oriented philosophy allows Group Sotramon to anticipate and to innovate with a clear vision and knowledge of the future needs of the Industry. In order to increase its innovative potential and the quality of its services, Group Sotramon follows an ambitious training policy which leads to numerous achievements.
Our team has also created an engineering unit which is made of its most competent resources. Regrouping several project engineers equipped with CAD stations, this unit coordinates the feasibility studies made by the different specialised departments. Hence this approach favours the consideration of all the aspects needed for a project – from inception to completion.

Our success and achievement have been built on hard work, continuous development and focusing on Client’s demand.
The company was founded in 1983 with about twelve employees. It started as a small contracting company in mechanical and structural engineering industry for the Mauritian market.
Our main aim was to focus on the sugar sector as there was a lack of service. Due to our quick response and team skills we got into the textile and petroleum industry from pipe lines to erecting a whole plant the following years. We also diversified our activities by setting up the first dredging company in the country as the tourism industry was developing in Mauritius.
With our core values of continuous learning, solution driven skills and through hard work, we have been able to develop the company and diversify our activities in the region. Consequently we have diversified our activities into Indian Ocean Region to the African continent. Nowadays, we can state proudly that we are the contracting leader in the sugar and thermal sector, we have a subsidiary who is the leader in the petroleum industry and another subsidiary in the commercial trade in the same sector and finally an investment company. We have developed clusters in crane hiring with the biggest mobile crane in the Region (300T Crawler crane).
Our success is built on sense of urgency, on time delivery, quality of service and most of all our great team who continuously strive for perfection.
